As you set out to buy your home, you are bound to have many questions about the journey that lies before you. Will you find a home that suits your tastes in a location that meets your needs? If so, does it fall in line with your budget and financing limits? And will you be able to move in on a date that works with your plans?

There are a number of ways to discover if an agent you are considering working with has the necessary skills and experience to help you achieve your goals. It is important that you ask these questions before you begin working with an agent who is representing you as a Buyer's Agent. Any top professional agent will answer these questions and he or she will respect your prudence. If an agent can't answer your questions, he may not be the most qualified person to handle the important responsibility of helping you with your purchase. There are thousands of dollars at stake, and it makes good common sense to select your real estate agent with care.

Five important questions all Buyers should ask before selecting a Real Estate Agent:

1. When did you start selling real estate? How long have you been working in real estate full time?
I began selling real estate in 1991, and I have always been a full time agent.

2. What kind of prior business and sales experience did you have that has prepared you for your career in real estate?
In California, where I am from, I sold group insurance for 19 years.

3. What professional designations do you possess from the National Association of Realtors? Are you a CRS (Certified Residential Specialist)and/or an ABR (Accredited Buyer Representative)?
Not only do I have my CRS and ABR designations, but I am also a Graduate of the Realtors Institute (GRI) and an Associate Broker.

4. On an average, how many transactions do you close per year?
Since 1994 I have averaged 50 transactions a year - or at least one per week!

5. Can you describe three things you do that will give me a competitive advantage over other buyers?
Finances determine the initial investment and monthly payment that realistically work for you. I will use my professional experience to estimate additional costs that might be incurred so there are no last minute surprises. I will be your personal resource on fair market pricing. When comparing the value of prospective properties, I can help you prioritize your needs and weigh important variables and attributes of homes that interest you. Once you decide to make an offer, I will oversee each step of the process, keeping you apprised of my activities, as well as alerting you to any action that must be taken to ensure success.

While the experience can be filled with ups and downs, by choosing me as your guide you are selecting a knowledgeable professional who will see you safely through your real estate purchase.
