LUMBERMENS MONUMENT: 9 foot bronze statue completed in 1982 honoring the areas's early days of logging. A stairway takes you to the river's edge. There also are picnic table and grills.

IARGO SPRINGS: The springs have been used continuously since pre-settlement times as a drinking water source. The Indians believed the springs held mystical powers. There are 294 steps down to the springs and a boardwalk along the river. There is also a 30 foot high observation deck.

CONSUMERS ENERGY DAMS: Four hydroelectric dams can be seen along the Scenic Byway: Loud, Five Channels, Cooke and Foote. They are home to bass, walleye, northern pike, tiger muskies and other fish. Don't forget there is great FISHING along the entire Au Sable River.

EAGLES' NEST OVERLOOK: The nest has been used by a pair of bald eagles since about 1985. Be sure to bring binoculars of at least 6 power to view into the nest and to watch the eagles soar over Cooke Pond.

CORSAIR RECREATION AREA: Designated areas for cross-country skiing in the winter and hiking, jogging, picnicking and fishing the rest of the year.

EAGLE RUN CROSS COUNTRY TRAIL: 11 miles of chipped and groomed trails for all skill levels.

SHORE-TO-SHORE RIDING AND HIKING TRAIL: This horseback riding and hiking trail starts at Old Orchard Park on River Road.

HOIST LAKES FOOT TRAVEL AREA: This semi-private, non-motorized area offers a network of hiking and cross-country skiing trails. Steep rolling hills provide for beautiful vistas. North of Glennie on M-65.

TUTTLE MARSH WILDLIFE AREA: Nearly 5,000 acres to view fox, deer, coyotes, beavers, waterfowl, muskrats, weasels, otters and other wildlife.

IOSCO COUNTY HISTORICAL MUSEUM: Logging tools, photographs, Native American artifacts, Wurtsmith Air Force Base items and other area relics - East Tawas.

TAWAS INDIAN MUSEUM: More than 500 Native American relics and handcrafted items of the Sioux, Blackfoot and Cherokee tribes - Tawas City.

TAWAS POINT LIGHTHOUSE: Standing 70 feet above Tawas Bay, this lighthouse has been in operation since 1876 - Tawas Beach Road.

TAWAS POINT STATE PARK: More than 100 campsites, a playground and designated areas for boating, swimming, biking, picnicking and fishing.
